This section summarises the HYDRA-EO work packages (WPs), outlining their scope, role, and position within the overall project timeline. Each work package contributes a specific set of activities—ranging from scientific requirements and data collection to modelling, integration, and dissemination—together forming a coherent end-to-end workflow.

WP1

Scientific requirement consolidation

Definition of scientific objectives, use cases, trait–stressor matrix, and alignment with ESA requirements and parallel EU initiatives.

WP2

Dataset collection

Field campaigns, UAV and airborne acquisitions, in-situ measurements, and harmonised dataset documentation across crops and sites.

WP3

Model development & validation

Development and validation of RTMs and EO-based models, including spectral sensitivity and sensor intercomparison.

WP4

Experimental dataset generation

Generation of experimental EO products, synthetic datasets, and stress-specific simulation libraries.

WP5

Earth system science exploitation

Analysis of functional traits, stress dynamics, and scaling from UAV to satellite EO products.

WP6

Societal relevance & transfer

Demonstration of applicability for agriculture, disease monitoring, and resilience, including stakeholder-oriented outputs.

WP7

Scientific roadmap

Identification of knowledge gaps and recommendations for future EO missions (CHIME, FLEX, LSTM).

WP8

Scientific collaboration

Coordination with ESA activities and relevant Horizon Europe projects.

WP9

Promotion & dissemination

Scientific communication, training material, workshops, and outreach activities.

WP10

Project management

Overall coordination, reporting, risk management, and contractual compliance.
